In this world of digitalization, where everything is connected to Internet, there is a need to protect ourselves. Internet is a collection of networks across the world. A network is a collection of computing nodes. A computing node or endpoint can be a computer, laptop, mobile, Internet of Things (IoT). Personal computing endpoints stores and processes data which can be our personal data like name, date of birth, address, credit card numbers etc while Enterprise endpoints processes and stores business data like customer data, employee details, customer contact number. Digitization has transformed the data that was documents into electronic data that’s stored and processed in the form of word documents, images, presentations. Data on the Internet are accessed using Internet protocols like HTTP, SMTP, FTP and still there are much more. World Wide Web (WWW) uses HTTP to upload and access data across Internet. Here comes the necessity to protect ourselves. Our data is there on Internet and if it’s on a vulnerable server that can be exploited, attackers can steal it, manipulate and do much more.
